Elastomeric Coatings
When stucco cracks, an elastomeric coating offers a convenient and affordable solution.
Usually, in this scenario, the stucco must be removed to replace the membrane below. Then, new stucco is installed on top. With an elastomeric coating, an extremely thick coat of acrylic paint, the surface and crack are covered, eliminating costly installation.
This new painting technology has created a flexible, stretchy material that returns to its original shape, instead of cracking. 10 times thicker than standard acrylic paint, it has 45 to 60 percent more volume. As a result, these qualities allow it to protect against interior water damage while still being breathable enough to release moisture.
What can an elastomeric coating do for your home?
- Cover any cracks larger than 1/16th of an inch.
- Seal stucco and other masonry from the outside.
- Offer a mildew- and dirt-resistant surface.
- Adds a waterproof barrier that resists wind and rain.
